Abstract
823,790. Stacking tiles. GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO. July 26, 1956 [March 14, 1956], No. 23109/56. Class 94(1). [Also in Group XXX] Apparatus for stacking tiles having different top and bottom faces such that each pair of succeeding tiles A, B is stacked with like faces in contact consists of a conveyer belt 1 on which the tiles follow one another, a pressure roll 5 having a resilient cover at the delivery end of the belt, and a trough-shaped member positioned transversely below the delivery end and adapted to receive the first tile A of a pair in downwardly and forwardly sloping position, the arrangement being such that the second tile B engages the first tile A and tilts it over into inverted position, the two tiles then passing to a stacking receptacle 9 in which they form a superposed pair having like faces in contact. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the trough-shaped member has a bent over portion 10 at its leading edge to support each tile as it leaves the roll 5, a side wall comprising two differently sloped portions 11, 13 joined by an arcuate portion to further guide the tiles, a base 14 to support the forward edge of each tile A, and a side wall 15 with which is associated a bar 19 about which each tile A is adapted to pivot during tilting by a tile B. The wall 16 is joined by a sloping surface 17 to the bin 9. In the modification of Fig. 6 the bar 19 is omitted, the trough-shaped member having bent-over portions 21 and 22 for guiding the tiles.
