Abstract

823,210. Valves. EVERED & CO. Ltd. Nov. 19, 1956 [Aug. 19, 1955], No. 23893/55. Class 135. A thermostatically-controlled valve mechanism comprises a casing constructed in two parts 14, 15 and containing a spring-loaded valve 19 operated by a thermal means 21 and adapted to be given a predetermined setting relative to its seating, and a plug cock controlling the admission of gas to the housing, the valve and cock being adjusted along a common axis by a single knob C having niting means for locking the mechanism so as to cut-off the gas supply to the housing and also operating to restrict the turning of the cock so as to avoid the inadvertent cutting-off of the gas supply. The knob and a sleeve 27 are pushed in towards the casing whereby asleeve knotch 27c, Fig. 8, is removed from a casing stop 24c so that the cock may be rotated by an amount determined by the sleeve stop 27d engaging either end of a casing stop 24d, the amount of rotation corresponding to the length of a circumferential plug groove containing the plug ports 18a. During this rotation the cock remains open and the valve is adjusted on its screwed stem 19a. The valve 19 is prevented from rotating and retained in the casing part 15 by a circlip having a portion 36a engaging the valve and casing.
