Abstract
823,130. Optical systems. KODAK Ltd.. April 3, 1956 [March 31, 1955], No. 10098/56. Class 97(1) In a prism system in which the prisms are rotatable before an objective to vary the magnification a pair of colour dispersion wedges are rotatable in opposite directions in planes perpendicular to the optic axis of the objective to correct for the residual dispersion of the prisms. As shown in Fig. 1 an anamorphotic zoom prisms system 13 as described in Specification 823,129 is placed before an objective 14, the prisms in the system being rotated by a crank 15 to vary the magnification produced by the prisms. Before the system 13 are dispersive wedges 21, 22 each formed of two oppositely directed wedges cemented together, the wedges being simultaneously rotated about the optical axis 10 of a variable collimating lens 11 by a pinion 18 driven by suitable gearing from the crank 15 to reduce the resultant chromatic errors in the image. The anamorphose may comprise two prisms above rotatable before the objective and the wedges 21, 22 may be placed between the anamorphoser of the objective 14. The rear element 92 of the collimator may be cemented to the front wedge 21. Numerical data for one example are given and the theoretical basis of the invention is explained.
