[Also in Group XXXV] A working system 1, supplied with a component through a controller 2, has its condition compared with a required condition by a detector 3, any divergence producing an error signal which is amplified to cause a motor 4 to vary the output of a thyratron 5 via a phase shifting mechanism 6, the new anode current of the thyratron modifying the controller 2 to rebalance the working system 1. The thyratron 5 is affected by the signal from the phase-shifting mechanism combined with the error voltage, whereby both integral and proportional control is produced. The working system can be either a furnace whose temperature is controlled, or a plant for mixing materials in a desired ratio.
