A tubeless tyre puncture 11 is repaired by a plug 12 of resilient rubber or plastic material and comprising a domed head 14 with a flat undersurface 15 from which extends a shank 16 of uniform diameter having a reduced diameter extension 31 at its free end, the plug being inserted in the puncture 11 from inside the tyre by means of a tool 13 comprising a length of spring wire bent at 30 to engage the plug shank 16 and having its ends 25 twisted together to form a handle, said handle being separated from the bent end 30 by opposed shoulders 23 defining a larger opening than the end 30. To facilitate insertion the plug shank 16, 31 and the puncture 11 have a lubricant applied thereto which also facilitates disengagement of the tool 13 from the shank 16 on complete insertion of the plug. The protruding end of the plug 16 is severed proud of the tyre surface, Fig. 5, to leave a stud end. The tool 13 is formed as shown in Figs. 8 and 9 with two opposed shoulder portions 23 which adjoin the twisted ends 25 and define a larger opening than that of the shank engaging end 30, the latter being defined either by opposed shoulders 22, Fig. 8, or by an arcuate loop 24, Fig. 9. In operation, Fig. 3, the shoulders 23 are compressed together on passage through the puncture 11, thereby tightening the grip on the plug shank 16 and avoiding any enlargement of the puncture 11.
