Abstract
820,868. Mouldinglightingfittings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Oct. 22, 1957 [Sept. 13, 1956], No. 28063/56. Class 87(2). [Also in Group XI] In a refractor member of bowl or trough form for a lighting fitting, having linear prisms for deviating light into preferred directions, and in which one or more groups of prisms are provided to modify light at small angles to the vertical axis, some at least of the prisms of these groups have flat surfaces between them which taper towards or away from the preferred directions. Fig. 1 shows a bowl of the type in Specification 818,401 [Group XI] with four directions VD1-VD4 of preferred emission, having side prisms P in planes containing the vertical axis V, the lower bowl-shaped part 2 having zones of prisms B at right angles to the preferred directions and separated by flats tapering towards the preferred directions. The bowl may be made by moulding, the mould itself being cut by a cutting tool rotating relative to the surface of the mould about an axis displaced from the axis of revolution of the surface of the mould. Alternatively the prisms or flats may be directly produced on the bowl in a similar manner.
