820,519. Proximityfuzes. BRINRO Ltd. March 5, 1957 [March 12; 1956], No. 7303/57. Class 9(1) [Also in Group XL(b)] A proximity fuze comprises a casing 1 containing an annular window 2' through which infra-red radiation from a target passes to fall on a frusto-conical mirror 4, whence it is reflected to a concave mirror 5 to fall upon a photo-cell 7 which activates the fuze via an amplifier 8. More than one cell may be provided to correspond to different directions of origin of the radiation. The detonating distance may be controlled by providing the amplifier with a high pass or band pass filter to limit the duration of the impulses received.
