Abstract
A semi-permeable separator for the electrodes of an electric cell comprises a sheet formed of a mixture of a polyvinyl compound and a different film-forming water-insoluble organic polymer. Specified polyvinyl compounds are polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinyl-methyl-ether/maleic acid copolymer. Specified organic polymers are polymethyl methacrylate, polyamides and methyl cellulose. Plasticizers such as glycerol or glycols and antioxidants, e.g. N-(p-hydroxy phenyl) morpholine, may also be present.
