Abstract

819,997. Drying thread. BEMBERG, A.G., J. P. Jan. 4, 1957 [Jan. 5, 1956], No. 456/57. Class 34(1) In apparatus for drying textile thread by electric resistance heating, the thread is led over a rotary drum comprising electric contact rods 3, 4, Fig. 1, having different polarity, the current being supplied from A.C. source 7 through slip-rings 5, 6. In a modification, the contact rods 10, Fig. 2, are connected during a fixed angle of rotation through a slip conductor 11 to the current source 7, so that voltage is only applied to those contact rods supporting the thread. Inductive resistances 12 are provided for each contact rod to allow the voltage to collapse in the event of flash-over.
