Abstract

819,727. Signal lamps for aircraft. ATKINS, H. W. Nov. 24, 1955 [Aug. 2, 1955], No. 33764/55. Class 75(4) [Also in Group XXXVIII] Apparatus for use on an aircraft for warning an observer on another aircraft of the degree of probability of collision between the two aircraft comprises a stream-lined plastic bubble 21 situated at the top of the tail 19 of an aircraft and enclosing three lamps 25, 26 and 27 flashing at different predetermined rates (see Group XXXVIII). Baffles 23 and 24 are arranged as shown to limit the forward light from the lamp 25 to a sector of 120 degrees, the rearward light from lamp 27 to a sector of 120 degrees and light from lamp 26 to left and right sectors of 60 degrees each.
