Cyanuric chloride is produced by the polymerization of cyanogen chloride under elevated pressure and at a temperature higher than 200 DEG C., preferably 250-400 DEG C., in a body of liquid cyanuric chloride. Liquid cyanogen chloride may be injected into liquid cyanuric chloride with or without stirring. The product is preferably cooled under pressure to a temperature of below 200 DEG C. and then expanded. An example is given.
