Abstract

A fitting for elongated fluorescent or other discharge lamps comprises an elongated tubular metal body open at its opposite ends, a pair of end plates adapted to be secured to the ends of the body to close them, and a pair of housings for the lamp connections adapted to be secured to the body, the metal body being encased in a skin of material impervious to atmospheric constituents and of a resilient nature, and the end plates being either made of metal and enclosed in a skin of the material, or being made of the material. The body may be of ferrous metal and the skin of a plastic material such as polyvinyl chloride which may be applied as a liquid by painting or spraying, or as a pre-formed skin.
