Abstract
817,023. Stretch-bending. ETABLISSEMENTS L. MORANE. April 30, 1957 [April 30, 1956], No. 13675/57. Class 83 (4). A machine for shaping metal sheets comprises means for moving a forming member in a vertical plane, a set of gripping members arranged at each side of the said vertical plane to hold the metal sheet, the gripping members being articulated to supports which are movable on inclined guides sloping downwards to the said vertical plane. A former 1, Fig. 2, is raised by jacks 4, one at each end of the former, so that a metal sheet 21 held by.a series of jaws 12 at each side of the former is stretched thereover. Each jaw 12 is pivoted at 11 to a stirrup 10 on a rod 9 of a jack 7, the rod 9 being rotatable in the jack. The jack is pivoted at 8 to a support 6 and serves to tension the sheet. The supports 6 are moved down inclined rods 15, by the rotation thereof, as the former 1 is raised, the inclination of the rods 15 being adjustable by jacks 19. The former 1 is pivoted at each end at 5 to its jacks 4 so as to permit unequal vertical travel of the jacks and inclination of the former in the vertical plane. To stretch the sheet around a former 1 having concave portions, Fig. 3, levers 13 are locked down to prevent movement of the jaws about the pivots 8 and 9 and the jacks 19 are operated to bring the jaws close to the former 1. Each support 6 may comprise, Fig. 4, a part 6a adjustable on a part 6b and each part 6b be guided in a table 25 pivoted at 16 and adjustably inclined by the jack 19, the rod 15 which moves the support in the slot being rotated by an electric motor 26. A table 2 carrying the former 1 is rocked about its longitudinal axis on a girder 3 by screw-jacks 32 to incline the former relative to its vertical plane of movement. The girder 3 is pivoted at one end at 29 to a slide 28 carried by a vertically movable cylinder 4a of one of the jacks 4 and at its other end has a slot 30 co-operating with a pivot 31 on another slide 28 on the cylinder 4a of the other jack 4. This mounting allows the inclination of the girder 3 in its vertical plane of movement.
