816,495. Moulding thermoplastic materials. MANUFACTURES DES GLACES ET PRODUITS CHIMIQUES DE GOBAIN, CHAUNY & CIREY S.A., DES. Sept. 6, 1957 [Sept. 10, 1956], No. 28257/57. Class 87(2). [Also in Group XXIII] Continuous lengths of angle-section glass or thermoplastic strip are produced by flowing the molten material between pairs of rollers 6, 7 ; 13, 14 ; 18, 19 and supporting it until it is sufficiently set to support itself. The roller 6 has a small peripheral groove midway along its length and the roller 7 is plain. This has the effect of producing a ribbon that is flat except for a tapered rib extending axially along its upper face. The other pairs of rollers are formed with complementary grooves and conical portions of increasing depth/height whereby the glass strip being formed becomes bent to the desired angle and the bend, when completed, is shaped as shown in full lines in Fig. 5 instead of the shape shown in broken lines resulting from bending a preformed flat strip.
