Abstract

816,293. Stereoscopy. LASSUS ST. GENIES, A. H. J. DE. Dec. 19, 1955 [Dec. 17, 1954], No. 36314/55. Classes 97(1) and 98(2) A screen to receive images projected from stereoscopic lenticular film comprises a diffusing surface with at least one lenticular selector assembly on either side, each assembly being composed of two parallel lenticular screens with parallel elements of the same pitch, the elements of one being convex and facing the elements of the other which are concave. By making the radii of the concave elements less than those of the convex the ridge between the former can be located in the grooves between the latter (Fig. 1a). The concave elements may be formed by a liquid (Fig. 2) or a varnish layer. The concave and convex elements may be air spaces between flat plates and a moulded plate lenticulated on both sides (Fig. 1b). In the complete screen shown in Fig. 5, two selector assemblies R1, R2 are provided in front of the diffusing plane P and the whole assembly is enclosed by spherical or cylindrical lenses A, B. In 'another form a single lenticulated plate carrying concave lenses is mounted between the diffusing surface and the lenticlar assembly in front of it. This concave lenticulated plate may replace the plane liquid retaining plate when the lenticular assembly is in the form shown in Fig. 2. In another form a single large convex cylindrical lens is interposed between the diffusing surface and the front lenticular assembly. Lenses such as A and B. (Fig. 5) may also be added, being cylindrical with their axes crosses with that of the intermediate cylindrical lens. Enlarged copies of the film being projected may be produced by replacing the diffusing surface in any of the embodiment, by photographic material. Specifications 454,020 and 462,808 are referred to.
