Abstract
A therapeutic composition comprises reserpine in association with a synergistically-effective amount of the ortho-substituted betadialkylamino alkylbenzhydryl ether of general formula <FORM:0816040/VI/1> (in which R1 is an alkyl group having up to 6 carbon atoms or halogen, R2, R3 and R4 are hydrogen, an alkyl group having up to 6 carbon atoms or halogen, R5 is an alkyl group of 2-6 carbon atoms substituted in the b -position by the group NR6R7 and R6 and R7 are alkyl groups having up to 6 carbon atoms) or with a salt of such an ether. The preferred ether is b -dimethylamino ethyl o-methylbenzhydryl ether. The ether: reserpine ratio is preferably 15-100 : 1. Preparations for oral or parenteral administration may be made using solid or liquid excipients. Specifications 743,495 and 797,473, [Group IV (b)], are referred to.
