Abstract
<PICT:0815804/III/1> Flowable materials are sprayed to cover a sharply defined area on a support, by using two masks, spaced from each other in the direction of the spray, the first mask intercepting the marginal portions of the spray, and the second being arranged adjacent to the support for intercepting any stray particles of spray material outside the defined area. As shown, both masks are frusto-conical, the first mask c having the aperture in its smaller end nearest the spray gun a, while the corresponding aperture in the second mask d is closely adjacent to the support e which receives a sharply-defined coating f. The masks are supported in fixed relationship to each other by struts g, and are maintained in alignment with the spray gun, which is supported in predetermined position relative to the body e, by means not shown. The masks, which are self-cleaning, may be used to apply silver material to ceramic capacitor bodies.
