Abstract
815,669. Electrical component assemblies; couplings. ERIE RESISTOR CORPORATION. Feb. 4, 1957 [Feb. 17, 1956], No. 3738/57. Classes 37 and 38 (1). An assembly of electrical components comprises ah insulating strip 6 on which a plurality of tubular components, provided with conducting surfaces at their opposite ends, instead of the usual wire terminals, are arranged side-by-side across the width of the strips by means of sheetmetal clips 4, 5 arranged in two parallel rows along opposite edges of the strip, the clips 4, of which one is shown in greater detail in Fig. 3, being provided with extensions 14 which project beyond the corresponding edge of the strip and are formed at their outer ends with prong portions 7 having a curved section so that the complete assembly constitutes a plug-in unit. As shown in section in Fig. 8 the extensions 14 are bent so as to lie alternately above and below the surface of the insulating strip 6 so that the prongs 7 are arranged in two parallel rows and can thus more readily support the complete assembly when it is plugged into a corresponding socket. The assembly is enclosed within an insulating coating which is applied by dipping or moulding over the finished assembly. The assembly may be connected to a printed circuit board provided with terminal apertures into which the prongs 7 fit, the prongs thereafter being soldered to the printed wiring of the circuit.
