815,207. Universal joints. BAYERISCHE MOTEREN WERKE A.G. July 12, 1957 [Aug. 18, 1956], No. 22186/57. Class 80 (2). In universal joints of the type in which a disc 1 of resilient material such as rubber is provided with holes 3 engaged alternately by pins on the driving and driven members the holes 3 are opened out towards the periphery of the disc to provide for sufficient flexibility whilst the disc is made of comparatively hard material, for example, a hardness of between 70-75 Shore. The disc may have an outer protecting sleeve, preferably of metal, and may be held under radial compression by means of a spring ring in a circumferential groove in the disc beneath the protecting sleeve.
