Abstract

815,171. Suspension document carriers. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Jan. 25, 1957 [Jan. 31, 1956], No. 2778/57. Class 146(1) A document carrier comprises a flat T- shaped sheet 1 of material of suitable rigidly folded to form two surfaces 2, 3 which are maintained against each other to hold an inserted document substantially by friction, the cross piece 4 of the T forming oppositely located projections by which the carrier can be supported on lateral guides or conveyers. The carrier is preferably folded through the T-piece 4 and the ends secured by small plates 5 embossed at 6. A curved edge 7 may overlie the front surface 2 and/or resilient braces may enclose the bottom fold to hold the surfaces 2, 3 together, but the two surfaces may be folded under pressure and temperature such that the two surfaces will tend to come together. Transparent plastic material is used so that a document such as a cheque may remain in the carrier while automatically handled. A piece of magnetic tape may be stuck to the back surface 3 and printed with a code for use in automatic sorting machines.
