Abstract
815,102. Facing tiles. ANDERSON CONSTRUCTION CO. Ltd., and HUMPHREYS, H R Nov 27, 1956 [Nov. 29, 1955], No. 34207/55. Class 87(1) A sound-absorbent tile comprises a traylike member 1 moulded from fibrous plaster &c. or made of sheet material and provided with apertures 4 leading to a pad 2a of rock wool, glass wool &c. in the recess 2 of the tray. The apertures are of circular or slot-like shape and taper inwardly towards the recess. The recess may be closed by a sheet 3 of paper or asbestos millboard. Complementary rebates 5, 7 are provided on all four edges of the tile so that a number of tiles can be assembled in co-planar relationship, each tile being supported by a single screw passing through an aperture 13 adjacent one corner of the tile; the corresponding corner of the recess 2 is filled in with fibrous plaster 14 around the aperture. The area of the base containing the apertures 4 is offset with respect to the recess 2 so that it is centrally placed wih respect to the exposed face of the tile.
