Abstract

A polyethylene mould to be used for casting resins, where the curing temperature of the resin does not exceed 150 DEG C., is treated by exposing to high-energy irradiation those surfaces at least of the mould that are to come into contact with the resin, the radiation being sufficient to raise the softening point of the polyethylene in the regions of those surfaces to a temperature above the curing temperature of the resin to be cast.ALSO:A polyethylene mould to be used for casting resins, where the curing temperature of the resin does not exceed 150 DEG C., is treated by exposing to high energy irradiation those surfaces at least of the mould that are to come into contact with the resin, the radiation being sufficient to raise the softening point of the polyethylene in the regions of those surfaces to a temperature above the curing temperature of the resin to be cast.ALSO:A polyethylene mould to be used for casting resins, where the curing temperature of the resin does not exceed 150 DEG C., is treated by exposing to high energy irradiation those surfaces at least of the mould that are to come into contact with the resin, the radiation being sufficient to raise the softening point of the polyethylene in the regions of those surfaces to a temperature above the curing temperature of the resin to be cast.
