814,357. Cases and sheaths. JAGRAHAUS Dr. SCHMIDT & CO. G.m.b.H., A. Dec. 5, 1957 [May 15, 1957], No. 37929/57. Class 134 Means for clamping at one end the material of a protective casing for an umbrella or the like comprises two ring- shaped members 1, 2 of a resilient or elastic material such as polythene or sheet metal. The casing material 3 is folded over inside the outer member 2 which is then slipped over the inner member 1 by means of a hand press and springs into a circumferential groove in the member 1. The peripheral edges of the members 1, 2 may be chamfered to aid assembly and reduce wear of the casing material. Member 1 is shown with an aperture 7 to accommodate the ferrule of an umbrella, but may be in the form of a closed cap shaped to receive a ferrule.
