Abstract
813,997. Drum storage racks. RUBERY OWEN & CO. Ltd. March 12, 1957 [Dec. 16, 1955], No. 36146/55. Class 78 (1). A rack 10 has rails 11 down which drums roll, the rails having a humped extension 14 pivoted at 15 and extension 17 pivoted both at 16 and at 19, the extension forming a stop for the lowermost drum. The rails 11 are additionally provided with a linkage 21, 22, 23 so that a lift truck may engage the linkage at 23A to effect a double pupose: firstly, to raise the pivots 50 of the linkage to form a stop for the next lowermost drum and secondly, to raise extension 14 whilst lowering extension 17 so that the lowermost drum rolls off on to the lift truck. The weight of the next drum reestablishes the position of the extensions and of the linkage so that said next drum is held by extension 17 till the lift truck returns.
