Abstract
813,491. Radiation measuring apparatus. ATOMIC ENERGY OF CANADA Ltd. Oct. 16, 1956 [Nov. 25, 1955], No. 31523/56. Class 40 (3). In a radiation intensity measuring apparatus a halogen-quenched Geiger-Muller tube V2 supplies impulses to the control electrode of a cold-cathode trigger tube V1 which conducts in response to the impulses, thereby discharging condensers C1, C2 which then recharge, and the charging current for the condenser C1, C2, and the current from the Geiger-Muller tube are passed through an ammeter M1 which gives a reading proportional to the sum of these currents. At first the charging current of the condensers, represented by the curve 10, Fig. 2, varies with the radiation intensity. At a definite counting rate the circuit saturates and produces a constant. output as shown by the flat part of the curve 10. At this point the current from the Geiger-Muller tube V2 becomes appreciable, as shown by the curve 11. The total current effecting the ammeter is shown by the curve 12, which gives an increased range of count indication.
