812,394. Illuminated artificial flowers. LANE, R. July 2, 1957 [July 5, 1956], No. 20871/56. Class 63 [Also in Group XV] An illuminated artificial flower comprises an electric lamp holder 11, Fig. 5, housed in a casing 13 simulating a calyx and carried at the end of a tubular stalk 9 through which the conductors 10 for the holder 11 are introduced, light-permeable petal-like members 18, 19 radiating from the casing 13 and each having an end edge 20 exposed to light within the casing so that light rays strike the end edges and are propagated along the length of the petals. As shown both the petals and casing 13 are of transparent plastic material but where the casing 13 is opaque the end edges 20 are located inside the casing 13. A centre piece 14 fitting in the front of the casing 13 is provided with stamenlike wire members 15 and is secured by a spiral spring 17 which slips over the lamp bulb 12. The end edges 20 may be coloured or alternatively the petals may be tinted or coloured lights used. A plurality of such flowers may be arranged in a bowl 1, Fig. 2, fitted with an opaque cover 5 under which is located a transformer 2 and lights 7 arranged adjacent the end edges 6 of transparent leaves 3 located in the cover 5.
