Abstract
810,894. Asbestos-cement paper &c. VIC-. TOR MANUFACTURING & GASKET CO. Feb. 18, 1957, No 5465/5 7. Drawings to Specification. Class 96. Asbestos-cement paper &c. is made on a single or multi-cylinder paper-making machine &c. from a slurry having 96 to 98 per cent of water, the solids of the slurry comprising 80 to 88 per cent of asbestos &c and 12 to 20 of Portland cement of high initial strength &c, the web being heated &c. to reduce the moisture content to 10 to 15 per cent, and the product being then allowed to cure e.g. for 48 hours or more under atmospheric conditions, e.g. in roll form or as stacked sheets. The cured web &c. is then finished and dried to a moisture content of less than 1 per cent. The web may be sprayed with an 8¢ per cent solution of sodium silicate.
