Abstract
810,805. Ground anchors. ADJUSTABLE ANCHOR CORPORATION. July 18, 1955 [July 26, 1954 ; March 31, 1955], No. 20763/55. Class 45. [Also in Groups XXIV and XXV] An adjustable anchor for securing a machine or other fixture to a floor or wall comprises, in one form, a plate 26, Fig. 2, in screw-threaded engagement with a fixed housing 10, said plate supporting a flanged rotor 17 having a diametrical undercut slot 23, Fig. 3, receiving the head of a bolt 24 securing a foot 30 of the machine to the rotor. The housing 10 has a flange or ears 11, which may be secured to a wooden base or to the reinforcing rods of a concrete base. The bolt 24 may then be radially positioned along the rotor slot, angularly positioned by rotation of the rotor 17, and vertically positioned by rotation of the plate 26. The rotor 17 is clamped in position by a threaded ring 29 which may be locked by a pin 34 or by burring the edge of housing 10 into a recess in the ring. Where the housing 10 is to be embedded in a concrete floor or wall it may be attached to a template by a bolt engaging a threaded bore 16 in the rotor 17. If an anchor embedded in a floor is subsequently not required the rotor 17 may be inverted to preserve floor continuity. In a modification the rotor is frusto-conical and is held in the housing by a tapered ring. In a further modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the rotor had a spheroiealperiphery so that it may be tilted, and is clamped in a spheroidal cup threaded in a housing 10. In these constructions the diametrical slot for the bolt head does not extend completely across the rotor but extends axially therethrough. In another modification the bolt 24, Fig. 8, is eccentrically mounted in a rotor 46 itself eccentrically mounted in a rotor 45 rotatably adjustable on a vertically-adjustable plate in a housing 10. It is stated that the adjustable anchor is applicable to building construction of the type wherein a slab floor formed on the ground is subsequently lifted to the required level, the anchor being employed for the attachment of the hydraulic lifting mechanism.
