810,681. Photographic type composing apparatus. STANDARD REGISTER CO. July 20, 1956, No. 22503/56. Class 98(1) In. a photographic type composing apparatus of the kind provided with a lighttight housing enclosing a light source 13 for illuminating a master plate 16 having a circular series of transparent characters each associated with a movable shutter device 18 selectively operable e.g. bya keyboard, and a camera 42 with a film 43 movable for reproducing in the required position an image of the selected character formed on a target by an optical imageforming system comprising lenses and reflectors associated with each character, the said system includes a plane front-surface mirror 35 having a central opening 36, the target is a light reflecting surface 31 parallel to mirror 35 and the lenses 29 are so arranged that an image of the selected character is formed on the target by light reflected from mirrors 20, 28 and front-surface mirror 35. The camera lens is attached to a frame 40 slidable on guides to give variable magnification. U.S.A. Specification 2,180,417 is referred to.
