Class 100(2) A silk screen stencil has a frame provided with three or more spring-loaded projecting feet spaced around that face of the frame which is normally placed against surfaces to be marked. The frame 1 is wooden and rectangular, 17 in. by 15 in., and 1“ in. deep, and the screen 2 is secured thereto by gluing round its edges, which are also covered by adhesive strip. Near each end of each longer side of the frame is a foot 3 consisting of a 7/8 in. long brass plunger 4, drilled through and tapped at its upper end and sliding in a brass sleeve 5. A screw 6 passes through an opening in a cover plate 7 screwed to the frame, and engages in the bore of the plunger 4, and between the plate 7 and the plunger is a small helical spring 9 to urge the plunger downwards, its downward limit position being adjustable by turning the screw, so as to project for example in. below the frame. The stencil is suitable for marking for example the end of a drum 22¢ in. in diameter and having an outward bulge of # in., fitting within the rim of the drum, each foot being pressed in as desired to bring the stencil into contact with the drum in the area of contact with a squeegee.
