Abstract

808,439. Laying ground bait for fish. BOOTH, J. W. May 16, 1957 [May 16, 1956], No. 15223/56. Class 48. A bait distributing device comprises a tubular bait container 1 closed at one end by a perforated disc 2 and at the other end by a hinged weighted disc 6 and a sliding device 4 attached to the fishing-line and adapted to slide along the length of the container. The sliding device 4 comprises a ring, loop or hook on a slider rod 3 attached to and running the length of the outer surface of the container; alternatively it comprises a member fitting into a groove or slot in the container. The weighted disc 6 is hinged to the container on the side opposite the slider rod 3. The device is suspended as shown and dropped into the water. In the water, however, the weighted disc 6 causes the device to be inverted and the loop 4 slides to the other end of the slider rod 3. The weighted disc 6 pivots to open the end of the container, but as long as the device is sinking the bait stays inside. When however, the device is raised by the line water flows through the perforated disc 2 to wash out the bait.
