A frit for self-opacified ceramic glazes comprises (mol. percentages) SiOz 50-65; Al 2 O 3 4-12 ; TiO 2 6-18 ; ZrO 2 0-6 ; Na 2 O or Na 2 O + K 2 O 10-18 (Na 2 O at least 5) and CaO, MgO or SrO 5-15. BaO, PbO, CdO or ZnO is also present up to one third of the CaO, MgO or SrO content. F up to 6 and P 2 O 5 up to 4 are optional, and LizO may replace up to one third of the NazO content.
