Abstract
807,308. Gravity-separation apparatus. SAMERAUS, A. Nov. 18, 1955 [Nov. 19, 1954], No.33081/55. Class 46. A circular clarifying basin 1, Fig. 2, with central feed channel 2, outer peripheral liquid launder 5, rotating girder bridge 9, scrapers 13, central sludge-pump 6 and bridge-located sludge-pump unit 10 (or suction pipe) has a transverse pump platform 14 suspended from the bridge a short distance above the highest liquid level. The pump unit 10, Fig. 3, can be rocked, about mountings on the platform 14, into a horizontal position and can be removed by block and pulley, first along a rail 17 longitudinally of the platform 14 and then along a rail 12 longitudinally of the bridge. Each scraper 13, Fig. 4, is secured to two rods 18, each sliding in a guide 19, Fig. 2, and may be raised above the liquid level by chains or ropes 20 passing over pulleys 21 and secured to pullrods 23 linked together and to a winch or the like (not shown), which serves to operate all the scrapers or a group of them. The pull rods are disposed beneath the bridge. The two innermost scrapers 13, which must be so disposed and of such a length as to clear the platform 14 on being raised, are joined when in the lowered position by a removable angled plate 27, Fig. 2, to ensure accumulation of the sludge in the vicinity of the pump inlet.
