806,503. Structural metalwork; floors &c. RUBEROID CO., Ltd., and HASELER, A. E. Nov. 25, 1955 [Aug. 25, 1954], No. 24703/54. Classes 20(2) and 20(4) [Also in Group XIII] Parts of a building structure, such as floors or ceilings, formed from metal channel-members 1 arranged side-by-side, have parallel pipes 6 for hot or cold fluid, extending along at least some of the channels, for heating or cooling rooms. The pipes are connected between headers. In Fig. 1, spring-loaded studs 7, set in noggings 8, press the pipes 6 against the base of the channel which is filled with glass fibre or vermiculite. The noggings are braced against battens 3 (held in position by the upper edges of the channels) and the boarding 4 secured to these battens is overlaid by a screed 5 to form a roof. In Fig. 3, the pipes 6 are supported on noggings 15 in an inter-storey floor. Floor covering 10 is laid on boarding 4 secured to battens 3 housed in box channels 11. In other embodiments, the pipes 6 are cemented. welded or brazed to the channel bases or are held against them by steel spring strips disposed transversely of the pipes with their middle portions-resting, on the pipes and each end located between a batten 3 and a channel side wall, Fig; 2 (not shown), or by straps secured at their ends, transversely of the pipes, by bolts which unite side walls of adjacent channels. provisional drawings (not shown). In this last embodiment the screed is covered by a weatherproof layer.
