806,102. Percussive drills. BRAUNKOHLEN - UND BRIKETWERKE RODDERGRUBE, A. G. June 27, 1956 [July 11, 1955], No. 19954/56. Class 85 In a drilling device operated by compressed gas the spring-return piston 6, Fig. 1, is provided with a closure plug 5 for the nozzle which communicates with the pressure chamber 2 of the cylinder, the exhaust gases being discharged through a port 12 after clearing the labyrinth grooves 11. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) the piston is formed integral with the drilling tool. The pressure chamber may communicate with a chamber containing solid carbon dioxide, see Fig. 3 (not shown), or be formed in the piston, see Fig. 5, and fed with compressed air through ports 21 controlled by a valve 19. Finally the piston may be formed with a projection engaging a collar disposed in the nozzle leading from the chamber 2, see Fig. 4 (not shown) or the piston may be held in the nozzle-closing position by magnetic means, see Fig. 6 (not shown). The operating medium may be compressed air or nitrogen.
