Abstract
805,911. Hose end fittings. NEUE ARGUS G.m.b.H. Dec. 7, 1956 [April 25, 1956], No. 37518/56. Class 99(1). In a hose fitting for large diameter reinforced rubber or synthetic plastic hose 1 comprising an outer covering la which is removed from wire reinforcing layers 1b, 1c as shown and is replaced by material 4 harder than the removed layer such as metal or synthetic plastic cast in a hose socket 2, the internal diameter of the socket 2 increases towards the hose end and the ends of the wires 1b 1c are bent back preferably outwards so that they can take tractive force exerted on the completed fitting. In assembling, the socket 2 is fitted over the hose end 1 and the layer 1a is removed as far as the end step 2b, the ends 1e of the wires being bent backwards preferably over 180 degrees. A wedge shaped ring 3 is inserted between the wires 1b 1c and the hose core 1d and is fixed vertically in a mounting device not shown to receive the sealing material 4, the device being removed when the material has set and any surplus material being cut away to leave the end face flush. A nipple 8 is then inserted in the hose core 1d and is forced by means of bolts 10 on the nipple head 5 to bear against the core 1d with a sealing action. A greater force acting on the face 8c by the pressure medium in the pipes causes axial displacement of the nipple 8 as shown in the lower half of the Figure and ensures fluid tightness. The piston portion 8b of the nipple is sealed by an O-ring 9 to the inner wall of a sleeve 6 which in turn is located in the inner bore 5a of the nipple head 5 to which it is sealed by an O-ring 7.
