Abstract
804,654. Electromagnets. RAZDOW, A. May 2, 1956, No. 13477/56. Class 35. [Also in Groups II, XIX, XX and XXII] An electromagnetic system for moving an upper row of armatures 51, Fig. 11, and a lower row of armatures 52 against a turbine blade, the dimensions of which are to be checked (see Group XIX), comprises two solenoids 95 and 96 energized through a double pole, two-way, switch 97. When the switch is in the left-hand position a motor 99 rotates and turns a contact 100 so that it passes over a number of terminals 102 connected to the forwardly disposed solenoid 95. The resulting electrical impulses to the solenoid 95 brings about a slow stepwise advancement of the armatures 51 and 52. When the switch 97 is in the right-hand position, only the solenoid 96 is energized and causes a fast return of the armatures 51 and 52. In a modified construction there may be a second set of terminals 103 (not shown) between the terminals 102 and every time the contact 100 passes over a terminal 103 the solenoid 95 is arranged to be short-circuited to cause a braking action on the armatures 51 and 52. In a further arrangement, Fig. 13, a series of solenoids 104 to 109 are used. When a double-pole switch 972 is moved to the left, a motor 99<SP>2</SP> causes an arm 100<SP>2</SP> to rotate and energize in turn the solenoids 108, 107, 106 and 105, the solenoid 104 being continually in circuit during this period. This causes a forward step-by-step motion of the armatures. When the double-pole switch 97<SP>2</SP> is moved to the right the solenoid 104 is cut out and the arm 100<SP>2</SP> rotates in the opposite direction to energize in turn the solenoids 105, 106, 107 and 108, the solenoid 109 being continually in circuit during this period. This causes a reversed step-by-step motion of the armatures. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 786,213, [Group XIX].
