Abstract

804,210. Coin-freed ticket-printing machines and turnstiles. RIV OFFICINE DI VILLAR PEROSA, S. P. A. Oct. 30, 1956, No. 33122/56. Class 27 A coin-freed device 4 releases the lock of a turnstile and at the same time prints and issues a ticket. Coin mechanism. A lock mechanism 9 switches on the electrical supply for the device and also moves a mask 10 clear off one or more coin slots 11. An inserted coin G, if not rejected to a return shoot 18 and outlet 7 by a tester 17, or held in the tester falls down a shoot 19 and raises a lever 20 so that the support of a pin 22 is removed from beneath a lever 23, thus allowing the lever to fall and close a mercury switch 25 in the circuit of an electromagnet and a driving motor. Towards the end of an operating cycle, a cam 87 driven by the motor acts on a lever 86 and returns the lever 23 to its initial position. Another electromagnet is supplied from the switch operated by the lock 9 and is connected to a slide which moves behind the mask 10 and blocks the coin slots if the electromagnet is not energized because of current failure, the locked position of lock 9 or failure of the paper supply to a printing unit. The slide also operates an "out of use" sign 5. Ticket-printing. Paper unrolling from a spool 43 is fed over a printing plate 49 below a unit 45 containing the feed, fixed inscription and date members and below a unit 44 having an inking ribbon 47 and printing discs which co-operate with a printing lever 46. Tickets cut by a cutter 50 fall into a channel 51 which is of a length greater than the ticket length in order to prevent tampering with the ticket before it is cut. A lever 39 bears on the paper strip and on failure of the paper moves to a position in which a switch 37 cuts off the current to the electromagnet for preventing operation of the device. For testing the ticket-printing mechanism without releasing the turnstile, a pin 84 which operates a gear sector 62 controlling the turnstile can be moved from one end of a slot 85a to the other end in Which it rocks freely in a branch 62a of the slot. A ticket counter is visible through a slot 12, Fig. 2. Turnstile release. During the operating cycle, the motor rotates the gear sector 62 which, through racks 64, 67 on an axiallymovable rod 65, rotates a gear sector 68 and by removing an abutment 68b from a tooth 70 frees the turnstile shaft 3. The end 68a of the sector 68 engages a surface 71a on a lever 71 and is held in the freeing position until the following tooth 70a on the turnstile shaft raises the lever 71, the return of the sector 68 to locking position being assisted by the tooth 70 engaging a lever 74 connected through a spring 75 to the sector. For rotation of the turnstile independently of the device, a cam 80 can be rotated by a sliding bar 76 to pivot two levers 81, 82 so that they raise the lever 71 and rotate the sector 68 to the freeing position.
