Abstract
804,100. Mine arch supports. LINSINGEN, M. VON, [trading as BUCHUMER EISENHUTTE HEINTZMANN & CO.]. June 15, 1955 [June 16, 1954], No. 17240/55. Class 20(2) A mine arch comprises relatively slidable overlapping nesting channel sections S<SP>1</SP>, S<SP>2</SP>, Fig. 3 wherein a crusher block 7 is supported with one end against an abutment 6 in the outer section S<SP>1</SP> and with its other end projecting into the inner section S<SP>2</SP> through a tapering nozzle-like portion 8, Fig. 4, secured to the inner section S<SP>2</SP>, the nozzle-like portion being open on the open side of the channel sections. The crusher block 7 is preferably made of wood, which may be subjected to precompression, or may be of synthetic plastic or readily deformable metal such as aluminium. The nozzle-like portion is formed by two guide members welded to the webs of the inner section and bearing at their free ends upon the webs of the outer section. The sections S<SP>1</SP>, S<SP>2</SP> are coupled by guide rings r<SP>1</SP>, r<SP>2</SP> which embrace the sections without tension and are constructed with means to engage the ends of the sections whereby they share in the sliding movement of the sections.
