Abstract
803,972. Coin-freed vending apparatus. FORDHAM PRESSINGS, Ltd. Oct. 29, 1956 [Oct. 29, 1955], No. 30990/55. Classes 27 and 106(5) Apparatus for dispensing a predetermined quantity of water or other liquid comprises a measuring tank 1 having an inlet which is automatically closed when the liquid reaches a predetermined height, and a syphon discharge apparatus which is mounted in the tank and operated for commencing the discharge by a coin-ordisc-controlled lever 2. The tank 1 is supplied from a storage tank by way of a float-controlled valve and is emptied by raising a piston in the syphonic apparatus. The lever 2 is connected at one end to a rod 3 attached to the piston, and at the other to an axially-slidable rod 4 which, at its opposite end, is so associated with a second axially-slidable rod 5 that a coin, when inserted into a shoot 7, falls into a slot between the two rods and thereby couples them together. Inward pressure on the rod 5 then results in the movement of the rod 4 and operation of the lever 2 so as to raise the piston and empty the tank. The coin is supported in the slot by a plate 8 and, upon release of the spring-returned rod 5 after its operative movement, the coin falls through a shoot 16 into a container 17. A float-controlled level indicator 15 is provided. The side wall of the shoot has a slot 9 through which coins of less depth than the depth of the slot are ejected by a spring 10.
