A wrapper for sanitary towels is made from a fabric in which the longitudinal threads a run as large loops a<SP>1</SP> and interconnected small loops a<SP>2</SP>, and the transverse threads b are threaded through a number of such small loops and then pass across to the adjacent longitudinal chain of loops passing backwards and forwards between an adjacent pair of chains as shown. This fabric gives negligible sideways contraction when stretched longitudinally.
