Abstract

803,266. Making glass fibre-resin hollow shafts for arrows &c. COLUMBIA PRODUCTS CO. April 10, 1956, No. 10911/56. Class 87(2). [Also in Groups VI, XV and XXVIII] A hollow shaft, e.g., a fishing rod or arrow, is formed by feeding several ribbons 12 of glass filaments coated with a polyester phenolic, or epoxy resin simultaneously with a spirally wound paper core 16 into a mould 13. The mould may be heated by radiant heaters 18 to set the resin. In a modification, see Fig. 4 (not shown), a tapered shaft may be formed on a tapered core in a tapered mould.
