Abstract

802,610. Indexing tabs. GRAFF CO., G. B. Feb. 4, 1957 [Feb. 6, 1956], No. 3774/57. Class 16 An index or signal tab 20 for attachment over the edge of a card 38 or 38a, comprises front and rear resilient leg members 22, 24 joined at their top edges 26 so as to be urged together, one member 22 having struck therefrom near its lower edge at least one elongated, substantially horizontal bridging strip 30 with vertical convex surface extending towards the other member 24, the strip 30 being attached at both ends to the member 22 and having upper and lower edges sharp to prevent removal from the card at right angles to the strip while allowing movement in the direction thereof, the other member 24 having an aperture 32 with horizontal dimension less than the length of strip 30 so that the strip will engage the rim of the aperture to hold the members normally in spaced apart parallel relation to facilitate reception of the card 38, 38a therebetween. The tab is formed from a single sheet of metal bent and cut to form the legs 22, 24 and an upstanding signal 28. The top edge 26 forms an abutment for the top 36 of the card 38 38a and the apertures 34 of the card 38 are arranged to be entered by the strip 30 which can be slid along the top of the card. With unapertured cards 38a, the material of the card is merely slightly bent into the aperture 32.
