Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0802244/IV (b)/1> (wherein A is a saturated divalent aliphatic group which may be substituted by one or more phenyl radicals, B is a straight or branched saturated divalent aliphatic chain and R is an alkyl group containing at most 4 carbon atoms) and their acid-addition and quaternary ammonium salts; and their preparation by reduction of a compound of the formula <FORM:0802244/IV (b)/2> In examples, 1-(3,41-methyl-11-piperazinylpropyl) - 3:3 - diphenyl - pyrrolidine - 2:5 - dione is reduced with lithium aluminium hydride to give 1 - (3,41 - methyl - 11 - piperazinylpropyl)-3:3 - diphenylpyrrolidine (the trihydrochloride of which is also described) and this is converted to its trimethiodide by refluxing with methyl iodide.
