Abstract

A composite accelerator-filler material for rubber comprises at least one mineral filler, e.g. a clay such as kaolin, and a substituted thiuram sulphide or polysulphide, e.g. tetramethyl or tetraethyl mono-, di- or tetrasulphide. The substituted thiuram sulphide or polysulphide preferably comprises 0.2 to 0.6 per cent by weight of the filler mixture. The mineral filler may be a high alumina clay in which the weight ratio of alumina to silica exceeds 0.85.
