Abstract
800,728. Multiple-drum winches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. April 18, 1957 [April 21, 1956], No. 12665/57. Class 78 (5). On a ship, the topping winch drum 6 is mounted on the same driving-shaft 15 as the load-lifting drum 5 (not shown) and is clutched to the said shaft by clutch sleeve 26. Said sleeve carries internal gear-ring 27 which engages either with fixed gear-wheel 21 to hold rigid the drum 6, or with gear 24 secured to shaft 15 to thereby drive the said drum. This axial movement of the clutch sleeve is effected by the operator rotating handle 33, the movement passing to the sleeve via crank 31 and rod 34. The movement also passes to the sleevesupporting ball-race 29 via crank 32 and rod 36 in such a way that the ball race moves half the distance moved by the sleeve.
