Abstract

800,233. Magnetic recording and reproducing heads. DIRKS, G. Aug. 27, 1956 [Aug. 25, 1955], No. 24421/55. Class 40 (2). In a multi-magnetic head individual transducers are arranged side-by-side for serial operation (i.e. in the direction of relative movement) and the cores 6 thereof are housed in recesses 4, 5 in separable parts 1, 2 of a holder which are adapted to be clamped together in fixed relationship to hold the pole tips of said cores accurately in 'overlapping relationship about a non-magnetic shim 8 to form a precisely dimensioned non-magnetic gap between them. The housing may be grooved to ensure accurate location, as shown in Fig. 5, and may be slotted at an angle to the normal so as to avoid the need to joggle the core members, Fig. 6. The housing may comprise three parts to contain a three-part core, Fig. 4.
