Abstract

799,772. Counting apparatus. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES. Sept. 13, 1954 [Sept. 12, 1953], No. 26449/54. Class 106 (1). An electric counter comprises four binarystages interconnected so as to provide for the counting sequence set out below, and an interpolation indicator consisting of ten glow lamps connected. between the stages so as to be lit in turn to indicate the interpolation numbers 0-9. Each of the four trigger circuits shown diagrammatically in Fig. 1 is regarded as OFF when the left-hand side is conducting. Negative counting pulses on an input line 11 effect the changes tabulated above by virtue of the particular arrangement of communicating lines 12 ... 15. Other connections giving similar results are also illustrated in the Specification (Figs. 4 to 6, not shown). The effect of counting pulse No. 4 is to drive Stage I OFF whereupon, via line 12, Stages II and III are driven OFF and via line 14, Stage IV is driven ON. However, this last change feeds back a negative pulse on line 15 which drives Stage II back to the ON condition. In another embodiment (Fig. 7, not shown) electromagnetic relays are employed in place of the electronic trigger circuits. In both embodiments the indicating glow tubes 0 ... 9 are connected by their upper terminals into the counting circuit with odd-numbered tubes grouped together and connected to one side of the first stage and even-numbered tubes grouped together and connected to the other side of the first stage; the lower terminals of the glow tubes are connected in adjacent pairs to two each of Stages II, III and IV so as to cause a striking potential across an appropriate tube to indicate each state of the counter.
