Class 20(3) A channel-shaped guide rail for a vehicle window is formed from a blank, e.g. of sheet metal 1, having side slots 2 which are opposite one another, as shown, or alternatively staggered, and a number of pressed out corrugated tongues 3 for securing the guide, e.g. to a support flange 4. A series of tangs 7 pressed out from the centre part of the rail, or alternatively from the tongues 3, frictionally engage the flange 4. The tangs 7 may be replaced by a number of V-shaped, or arcuate, depressions. The blank is embedded in rubber, or plastic, 8 having a soft inner lining 9 which is also folded over the upper edges of the channel sides. In a modification, the soft lining 9, applied directly to the interior of the channel, is gripped by outwardly folded over portions on the upper edges of the channel. In a further modification, Fig. 10, the channel is formed of steel wire, the tongue portions 3 formed, during the course of manufacture with tangs 7, being bent down, at spaced intervals. The support flanges 4, Fig. 11, are resiliently mounted to a fixed part 13 of the vehicle, a number of pins 12, each with a spring 14, and secured to the flange 4, slidingly engaging corresponding openings in the part 13. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 6 one of the sides of the rail is folded over outwardly to form engagement tongues 3.
