In packing cheese curd into moulds, a support for the moulds moves through positions for loading the moulds, charging the moulds with curd, compacting the curd and removing the moulds from the support. Moulds 7 are loaded in succession on a rotating table 1, a pivoted hopper 9 is lowered on each mould, curd is delivered through a shoot 11 to a registering hopper and the curd is compacted ; preferably the moulds pass through the cycle of charging and compacting more than once prior to removal from the table. The hoppers 9 have adjoining, floared edges 9<SP>2</SP>. Specification 777,946 is referred to.
